Youth Volunteer Program

Mission

The mission of the LDA Youth Volunteer Program is to provide meaningful leadership opportunities for teenagers through mentorship and educational service. Volunteers help create engaging learning environments for children while developing skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, and community service.

LDA Volunteer Ladder

Junior Volunteer

Observe, support, build confidence

  • Classroom setup and organization

  • Supporting small group activities

  • Distributing materials

  • Observing teaching methods

Senior Volunteer

Guide, model, contribute

  • Demonstrating selected procedures or tools during lessons

  • Mentoring and guiding Junior Volunteers

  • Supporting communication between instructor and student groups

  • Contributing ideas for improving lesson engagement

Lead Volunteer

Mentor, coordinate, inspire

  • Mentor junior and senior volunteers

  • Assist in program preparation

  • Contribute ideas for program improvement

  • Lead small segments under instructor supervision

Volunteers may focus on different areas based on their interests:

Assistant instructor
  • Leadership and mentorship

  • Communication with younger children

  • Teamwork and responsibility

  • Classroom awareness

Photographer
  • Capturing photos of classroom activities (with consent)

  • Highlighting hands-on learning moments

  • Assisting with visual documentation of events

  • Organizing digital photo files

Social media editor
  • Drafting caption ideas

  • Assisting with post design

  • Suggesting content themes

  • edit graphic posts and reels
